<p>The hardest part of changing the way you eat is to eliminate hunger pangs and cravings. The body has been so used to being full all the time that it causes you to eat in-between meals. This habit is certainly one of the leading causes of unnecessary weight gain. Most of the time, the food you eat during snacks are unhealthy although satiating. That is why it is important to know how to curb your hunger. Not only will this cause you to lose more weight and faster but also adapt a healthier lifestyle free of extra calories and fats.</p>
<h3>Hunger, Satisfaction and Your Appetite</h3>
<p>Most people believe that these three terms share a common meaning. That is not the case, however. The appetite doesn’t necessarily mean hunger while hunger is not satiety or satisfaction. For starters, the appetite is more synonymous to cravings. It is characterized by a strong desire to eat a particular kind of food, i.e. “I have an appetite for chocolate cake right now.”</p>
<p>On the other hand, hunger is a condition that usually occurs when the body is in dire need of nutrition. It is accentuated by shakiness, edginess, headache, and growling of the stomach. Lastly, satisfaction or satiety is simply the feeling of fulfillment or fullness. Most often, people stop eating when they are already satiated.</p>
<h4>Factors That Play a Major Role</h4>
<p>The three terms associated with eating (hunger, appetite and satisfaction) are affected by certain hormones of the body such as leptin, cholecystokin, ghrelin and insulin. All of these hormones cause the body to experience specific needs for nourishment. In addition, they affect a person’s behavior and thoughts in relation to hunger, satisfaction and appetite.</p>
<p>One popular example of this is when a person feels an intense desire to eat more even if he or she already ate enough. During this circumstance, the endocrine gland produces excessive hormones that cause the person’s satiety level. The overproduction of the hormone leptin can also induce intense appetite sometimes causing the person to desire highly unhealthy foods.</p>
<h4>Managing Your Hunger</h4>
<p>There are several ways that can help you manage your hunger effectively. Creating irregular eating periods can cause the body to adapt to the new meal schedule. This doesn’t mean, though, that you should eat erratically but rather scatter meals all throughout the day.</p>
<p>Consuming less starchy and sugar-filled meals can also decrease your hunger levels. Excessive consumption of sugar can cause fluctuations of your blood sugar that will not only affect the way you lose weight but also cause eventual diabetes. Lastly, simple elimination of hunger and appetite stimuli can help manage the weight better. Make sure you decrease the amount of unhealthy desserts and snacks at your home.</p>
<h4>Managing Your Satiety</h4>
<p>It is important to know that there are several factors that contribute to increase satiety. One is lessening the time gap between meals or eating every two to three hours. Also, eating a high protein diet can also cause effective satiety since protein has been known to cause satiety.</p>
<p>Fiber, which helps digestion and clean the digestive tract, can also cause prolonged satiety since the body needs more time to digest fiber enriched foods. Incorporating fiber and protein rich food in your diet can effectively curb your hunger.

<p>It doesn’t matter what you are doing &#8211; browsing the Internet, surfing cable, or flipping through your favorite magazine – you will find plenty of advertisements that promote the magical qualities of weight loss supplements.</p>
<h3>Weight loss supplements come in all manner of shapes, sizes and styles and have a range of claims and solutions.</h3>
<p>And there are all manner of claims – from pills, patches and creams. But do these cures really work? Only you can decide that for yourself. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular weight loss products and the positive benefits and negative effects of each, so you can make up your own mind.</p>
<p>Bitter Orange, Citrus Aurantium, and Sour Orange: These products are made directly from concentrated extracts from orange peel. They often claim that they increase metabolism, but there has been no conclusive tests to back this up. Bitter Orange, Citrus Aurantium, and Sour Orange contain the stimulant synephrine, which can cause hypertension and cardiovascular toxicity. Individuals with heart disease, hypertension, and glaucoma should avoid these at all costs.</p>
<p>Chromium (Examples of Chromium products include Puritan’s Pride Chromium Picolinate, Vitamin World Naturally Inspired Yeast Free Chromium Picolinate, Nutrilite Trim Advantage): The claims that chromium increases weight loss and improves body composition have been backed by one main study which proved this to be the case. There are two types of chromium: Trivalent (which the body requires and is considered safe in doses of 200 micrograms or less daily) and Hexavalent (but this form can cause stomach upsets, ulcers, convulsions, kidney and liver diseases, and death).</p>
<p>Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) (Examples of this product include Vitamin World CLA, Nature Made CLA, Now Foods CLA): This product claims to promote leanness, but there are very few studies that actually support the marketing claims. While more research is needed, CLA is generally safe.</p>
<p>Ephedra/Ephedrine: Ephedra may aid weight loss by suppressing appetite, and research has proven its effectiveness when used with caffeine. However, ephedra causes high blood pressure, stroke, and serious heart problems, which is why the sale of dietary supplements containing ephedra was prohibited in April 2004.</p>
<p>7-Keto Dehydroepiandrosterone (7-keto DHEA): Preliminary research indicates that this product may decrease body weight and fat composition by increasing metabolism, but larger research studies are needed.</p>
<p>Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA) and Garcinia Cambogia: These products claim to suppress appetite and improve fat metabolism. While studies have shown mixed results, they are generally safe.</p>
<p>L-Carnitine: L-Carnitine claims to inhibit obesity, but there is very little evidence of its effectiveness.</p>
<p>Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), Pyruvate, and Dihydroxyacetone and Pyruvate (DHAP): A few small studies suggest that these supplements may have modest effects on weight loss, but research is needed. Presently, no serious side effects have been reported.</p>
<p>Lecithin, Guar Gum, Psyllium Hulls, Chickweed, and Chitosan (Examples: Chito-Trim, Exercise in a Bottle, Fat Blocker—Chitosan Complex, Fat Grabbers, Fat Trapper, Fat Trapper Plus, Metabo Fat Blocker, Miracletab, Now Chitosan with Chromium): These products claim to help break down fat so that it can be absorbed, emulsified, trapped, and eliminated by the body. There is currently no competent and reliable scientific research to support such claims.

<h3>Health and fitness are topics that are in everybody’s mouths.</h3>
<p>What’s the newest fad diet? Does it work? Where can you go for a workout? Are there workouts that guarantee weight loss. These are just some of the questions that people keep asking these days.</p>
<p>But even if it is the fad these days, only a few actually adhere to a healthy lifestyle. Most people will still eat junk and will still fill their plates with fats and carbohydrates. Most would still rather sit on the couch and watch TV than work out at the gym or do some jogging. Old habits, after all, die hard. But starting a healthy lifestyle is not really as impossible as you think it is. In fact, with commitment and discipline, you can actually start walking the road to health and fitness. It will be hard but just imagine the rewards that you will get in return.</p>

People who live healthy will get to enjoy more of their lives, not only in terms of reaching 100 years old but in enjoying each moment of your life because you are illness-free. Often, people who eat right are more capable in performing their tasks at the office and are more able to get advancements in their careers. These guys do not take leaves of absence and when they do, they use it to have fun and unwind and not to recover from a bad illness.</p>
<h4>People who eat healthy and work out will also have great bodies and are more physically attractive.</h4>
<p>They are more likely to have better sex life and more romantic involvements, which in turn can make them more satisfied with life. These things are chained situations. Start in a positive light and you will end with a positive light too.</p>
<p>But despite the numerous benefits that you get from living a healthy lifestyle, why do people still stick to their old habits. One of the reasons is of course the unwillingness. After all, who would want to quit something that you enjoy doing or eating? Most people will not be willing to part ways with what they have been so used to doing. Just imagine saying goodbye to a comfort food or a hobby that makes you happy, will you do it?</p>
<p>Another reason is perhaps the difficulty. Most people attempt to change their ways for various reasons, health problems, relationship woes, even financial but most of the time they don’t see their plans through. They will try for a week and perhaps continue for a couple of weeks and then go back to their old habits after some time. They do not continue with their plans. One of the main reasons why is the lack of desire. To be successful in combating a bad habit, you need to really want it bad enough. You need to make sure that every temptation will not serve as temptation. Sometimes, will power is not enough for this. You also need the support of the people around you. This is why a lot of the programs right now that are created to help people change have a network of support system that will help their members.</p>
<p>So if you want to live a life of health and fitness, make the change now. There are a lot of benefits to it. You just need to fully commit to it and create your own support system.

<h3>Even though there is so much information available about weight loss, the same diet mistakes are being made over and over every day.</h3>
<p>We are not talking here about little slipups where you ate a slice of pie that was not on the plan, but big mistakes that lead to failure to lose the weight that you want to lose. Understanding these errors can help you develop the attitude that will lead to permanent weight loss for you.</p>
<h4>1. The All Or Nothing Attitude</h4>
<p>All or nothing dieters will often pick out a complicated diet that is almost impossible for them to maintain. Before beginning, they will search the kitchen for anything that does not fit the plan and throw it in the garbage. They are planning to be the perfect dieter, and so they will be, for one day, three days, seven days or even a couple of weeks. Then, inevitably, something happens that means they cannot keep to the diet one time. Immediately the whole thing is ruined in their eyes and the diet is over. They go to the store and buy all the things that went into the garbage last week and proceed to gain back all the weight that they lost, as fast as possible.</p>
<p>If you are this kind of dieter you need to ask yourself some tough questions. Do you really want to lose weight permanently, or just lose a few pounds so that you can enjoy putting them back on again?</p>
<h3>The way forward is to make small changes to what you eat so that you have a slow but steady weight loss.</h3>
<h4>2. The Attitude of Sacrifice</h4>
<p>Another common mistake is to view your diet as a period of sacrifice. You do not allow yourself the foods that you enjoy most while you are on your way to your target weight. You may have a great diet plan and be very successful in losing weight, but what happens when you reach your goal? You have not learnt to eat &#8216;bad foods&#8217; in moderation so as soon as you start, you are likely to go out of control. It is better to include a little of everything in your diet and learn to enjoy it in small quantities. Yes, even chocolate!</p>
<h4>3. Goal Failure</h4>
<p>Setting achievable goals is vital in any weight loss plan. Goals should be clear, realistic and set out in writing. While you probably do have an ideal weight in your mind, unless you are only very slightly overweight it is probably too distant to be useful. A more useful goal would be to lose two pounds per week for the first five weeks and then one pound per week after that. Some weeks you will lose more and some less, some weeks you may even gain, but if you track your progress on a graph you will see that ups and downs are natural and do not stop you progressing steadily toward your major goal.</p>
<p>If you have been making these mistakes, do not worry. The most important point in dieting as in so many other things is to move on. Learn from your failures as well as your success and do not use a mistake as an excuse for giving up. The only way to achieve your goal permanently is to make a commitment to become a healthier person. Remember that eating normally includes eating more some days and less others. Learn to enjoy food in moderation and you have every chance of avoiding these bad diet mistakes.

<p>Teens are at an age, where peer pressure, has a serious affect on their body and mental image of themself. Many healthy teens will begin to obsess about weight problems that don’t exist. This often makes them take dangerous steps to fit in; such as, starving themselves.</p>
<h3>The best type of teenage diet plan is one that incorporates all the nutrients needed to build strong bones and maintain general health.</h3>
<p>If your teen must be put on a diet plan consult your doctor. They should be able to help you set up a healthy plan.</p>
<p>It is normal for teens to carry a small amount of extra weight. Most teens will lose it as they continue to grow. It is also important to teach your teen that everyone is not supposed to be the same.</p>
<p>Just because your daughters best friend weighs 105 lbs doesn’t mean that it is a healthy or even an attractive weight for your daughter. There are many factors that come into play when it comes to a healthy weight; such as, height, bone size, and family history.</p>
<p>A good teenage diet will consist of very few junk foods or none at all. These foods have no beneficial nutrients. They also carry many empty calories and loads of fat. Eating too much junk food can actually put your teen at risk for weight related diseases like diabetes and heart disease.</p>
<h3>One of the essential parts to a good teenage diet plan is plenty of exercise.</h3>
<p>In many cases exercise is all that is required. If your teen exercises regularly they will build lean muscle which naturally burns calories.</p>
<h4>In order for your teen to get the greatest benefit out of their diet plan it is important to make sure it includes plenty of fruits and vegetables.</h4>
<p>Teach your teen to pack healthy snacks of fruit and vegetables when leaving the house. This will prevent them from picking up fast food or junk food when they get hungry.</p>
<p>A healthy teenage diet contains lean meats. Eating small portions of lean meat can help teens to lose weight as it aids in the digestion process. Keep them away from large amounts of red meat because it is high in fat and is harder to digest. Instead cook them meals with chicken and fish.</p>
<h4>All teens should be getting plenty of skim milk as it has less fat then whole and still contains the necessary calcium.</h4>
<p>They should also replace any juice drinks and soda with water. As you know water is the best hydrater for your teens body. One way to get them to drink more water is to explain how it will help keep their skin healthy and help reduce the severity of acne. That gets them every time.</p>
<p>Teenage diet plans are not recommended unless necessary. If it is necessary then make sure to consult your teen’s doctor to put together a healthy diet plan.
